Set up a cash fund with Interac e-Transfer

Add a cash fund to your registry so guests can send an Interac e-Transfer, and choose whether to show progress or let guests say they sent a gift.

Updated October 7, 2026

A cash fund is a card on your registry that shows guests where to send an Interac e-Transfer, with an optional photo, goal and suggested message. You'll set one up in a few minutes.

WedKit never handles the money. Guests send the e-Transfer from their own bank straight to you.

  1. Add the fund

Open Website Content (in your dashboard: Website Content) and find the "Registry Links" section. Choose "Add Cash Fund (Interac e-Transfer, etc.)".

  2. Fill in the details

Give the fund a "Name", like "Honeymoon fund". Then fill in the rest:

    • "Email or ID": the email registered with your bank for Interac e-Transfer. If what you type doesn't look like an email, we show a warning.
    • "Suggested message": a short message guests can copy and paste into the transfer, such as "Honeymoon – Sam & Alex".
    • "Photo": an optional image shown at the top of the card.
    • "Goal amount ($)": optional, up to $100,000.
  3. Choose what guests see

Turn on "Show progress on the site" to show a progress bar on the fund card. Turn on "Let guests tell you they sent a gift" to add an "I sent a gift" button.

  4. Save

Choose "Save Registry". Your fund shows up on your site's registry section.

What guests see

The card shows the email to send to and your suggested message, each with a copy button. If you turned on the pledge option, guests also see an "I sent a gift" button.

How the progress bar works

The progress bar only appears when the fund has a goal and "Show progress on the site" is on. It counts only gifts you've marked as received on the Gifts (in your dashboard: Gifts) page, so a gift a guest has just told you about doesn't move it yet. It shows a percentage only, never dollar amounts.

A received gift with no amount doesn't add to the bar, so enter the amount if you want it counted.

When a guest says they sent a gift

Guests who tap "I sent a gift" enter their name (required), an optional amount and an optional message. That note shows up on the Gifts page as "Pledged", and we email you so you know to check your bank. When the money arrives, mark it as received. See Track gifts and thank-you notes.

If you'd rather not get these emails, turn off "Email me when a guest says they sent a gift" at the top of the Gifts page.

Tips for e-Transfer gifts

  • Turn on Autodeposit for your email in your bank app. Gifts land straight in your account with no security question.
  • If you can't use Autodeposit, don't put the security answer on your site. Guests will need to ask you for it.
  • Some banks let guests send an Interac e-Transfer Card, which adds a personal greeting to the transfer.
