Set up RSVPs and your deadline

Turn RSVPs on or off, choose how guests find their invitation, decide what the RSVP form asks and set a response deadline.

Updated October 7, 2026

Everything that controls how guests reply lives in one place: RSVP Settings (in your dashboard: RSVP Settings). Settings save automatically as you change them. Custom questions are the exception: they have their own "Save Questions" button.

Choose your settings

  1. Decide whether RSVPs are open

Under "RSVP Status", turn "Accept RSVPs" on or off. When it's off, your website stays live but every RSVP button is hidden. That's handy for sharing travel and hotel details before you're ready for answers. Turn it back on whenever you like.
  2. Pick how guests find their invitation

Under "RSVP Method", choose "Invitation code" or "Search by name". With "Invitation code", guests enter the unique code from their invitation. We include codes automatically in the emails and invitations you send from WedKit. With "Search by name", guests type their name and no code is needed.
  3. Decide who can view your site

Under "Website Access", turn on "Require invitation code to view website" if you want guests to enter their code before they can see your site at all.
  4. Let guests choose meals

Under "RSVP Form", turn on "Allow meal selection during RSVP" if you want guests to choose their meals as they reply.
  5. Set your deadline

Under "RSVP Deadline", pick a date with "Select RSVP deadline". This is the date you're asking guests to reply by.

"Search by name" is more convenient, but anyone who has your website link can search for a guest's name and submit an RSVP on that guest's behalf. Use it when your link is private and won't be widely shared. "Invitation code" is the most secure option.

Meal choices during RSVP

"Allow meal selection during RSVP" lets guests pick their meals as part of replying. You need to set up your meal courses first. Until you do, the setting shows "No meal courses configured yet" with a "Configure meals" link. The guide on offering meal choices walks through the setup.

Your deadline

Once you set a deadline, guests see "Please RSVP by" and the date on your wedding site, and "Please respond by" on the RSVP page. By default the form stays open after that date, so late replies still come through. Pick a date that leaves time to confirm numbers with your caterer.

To stop replies after the deadline, turn on "Close RSVPs after this date". The switch appears under "RSVP Deadline" once you've picked a date. After the end of that day, in your wedding's time zone, guests can't submit or change their RSVP. Instead, the RSVP page shows that RSVPs have closed, shows the reply they already sent and asks them to contact you directly. You can still edit any reply yourself from Guests.

Ask your own questions

Under "Custom Questions", click "Add Question", type the question and pick a type: "Text Response", "Yes/No Response", "Single Select (Pick One)" or "Multiple Select (Pick Many)". Tick "Required" if every guest must answer, then click "Save Questions".

Read the answers

The "Responses" tab at the top of the page shows every guest's answers to the custom questions you added under "Custom Questions". Dietary restrictions are always part of the RSVP form, so you don't need to add a question for them.
